My ResearcherID

ResearcherID.com is
a freely available resource for the global, multi-disciplinary
scholarly research community. After registering, you are assigned an
individual ID number that stays with you over the course of your career,
regardless of name changes or change in institutional affiliation.

ResearcherID is your place to manage and share your professional information. Because ResearcherID is fully integrated with Web of Knowledge, you can use  your profile to make sure that you are credited for your work in Web of Knowledge.

ResearcherID allows you to create an online profile for showcasing
your publication history.  It is designed to associate you with your
scholarly work, thus assuring an accurate record of output and
attribution. It provides a gateway for fellow researchers to quickly
locate your published work and to identify you as a potential
collaborator.

ResearcherID Features

At ResearcherID.com, you are able to:

  • Update your Profile (biographical information) at any time
  • Build your "My Publications" list by uploading works that you authored from any product database in Web of Knowledge, including the Author Search function in Web of Science

ORCID

Once you create a ResearcherID account, you can then create an ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributer ID) record and obtain an ORCID identifier.

ORCID is a non-profit organisation dedicated to solving the name
ambiguity problem in scholarly research by means of assigning unique
identifiers linkable to an individual's research output

The ORCID Registry is available free of charge to individuals, who
may obtain an ORCID identifier, manage their record of activities, and
search for others in the Registry

It is a hub that connects researchers and research through the
embedding of ORCID identifiers in key workflows, such as research
profile maintenance, manuscript submissions, grant applications and
patent applications

Member  organisations, eg. Thomson Reuters (Web of Knowledge) Elsevier (Scopus), Wiley connect to the ORCID Registry.
