Enhancing your academic visibility & profile: YOU on the internet: Academic profiling

YOU on the internet: Academic profiling

Scholarly collaboration networks, for example ResearchGate, Academia.edu and Mendeley, give you the opportunity to be found, to showcase your interests, your work and yourself and to follow fellow researchers. These networks are also used for sharing and accessing scientific articles.

If you want to share your own work, by uploading the full-text of your publications, please check the website How Can I Share It or SHERPA/RoMEO to find out which version of your article you are allowed to share.

Scholarly collaboration networks

In ResearchGate you can

  • Read and discuss publications
  • Create exposure for your work – at any stage of the research cycle (publications & data)
  • Connect and collaborate with colleagues
  • Get stats and find out who’s been reading and citing your work
  • Find research jobs and scientific positions

The profiles are indexed by Google and the full-text publications in ResearchGate are indexed by Google Scholar (please note: the version of the article uploaded by the author in ResearchGate can be an earlier version of the final, published version).

To create an ResearchGate account, click Join for free and enter the requested information. After creating your account, you can complete your profile: add an introduction, your publications, data, topics, interests, skills & expertise, current projects, etc.

ResearchGate shows publications in its publication database matching your name, making it easy for you to populate your publication list. You can also add publications manually. More information can be found on the help page How to add research.

You can follow researchers to get updates on their publications and contributions on ResearchGate. It’s also possible to follow publications, projects and questions.

Please note: content uploaded in ResearchGate is not included in the Unpaywall database.
