Research Publishing & Impact: Researcher Profiles

Create a Researcher Profile

Use these tools to help you establish your personal researcher profile. To solve the issue of author name ambiguity and attribution some scholarly agencies have developed researcher identification systems. These tools can help increase your visibility and the discoverability of your work. You can also archive your work in a research repository to make it more accessible.

Why should you care about having a Researcher Profile?

  • Increasingly being asked for this by funding agencies on grant applications
  • Connects you to your work
  • Eliminates name ambiguity
  • Improves discoverability of your work
  • Links your outputs, across multiple platforms, together
  • Your ID stays with you throughout your career (no matter your affiliation)
  • Find collaborators
  • Get citation metrics
  • Some publishers of journals are now also asking for Identifiers

ORCID iD

You can easily link your ORCID profile with your Scopus Author ID and  ResearcherID.

Scopus Author ID

Scopus Author Identifier assigns each author a unique number.

This helps distinguish between authors who share common names, and to standardise name variations across publications.

Scopus Author Identifier uses an algorithm that matches publications with author names based on, e.g. affiliation, address, subject area, source title, dates of publication citations, and co-authors.

Researchers are automatically assigned a Scopus Author ID when they publish in a journal indexed by Scopus.

Locate your record and find your assigned Author ID number.
