This page is developed as a tool to identify some influential journal
titles in different disciplines. It provides information to identify
and
compare the status, citation frequency and impact of a range of
leading English and Chinese journals useful for research evaluation.

Research Evaluation Tools

Journal Citation Reports
http://www.lib.ied.edu.hk/cgi-bin/WAMConnMgr?sid=jcr

The Library subscribes to Thomson Rueters’s Journal Citation
Reports (Science & Social Sciences Edition), a comprehensive and
unique resource that allows
you to evaluate and compare journals using citation data drawn
from over 11,000 scholarly and technical journals from more than 3,300
publishers in over 80 countries. Users can filter the
journals by subject and then sort them by impact factor,
immediacy index, total cites, current articles, cited half-life,
Eigenfactor score, article influence score, or journal title.

Journal Citation Reports (JCR) list impact factors for a number
of journals. However not every journal is analysed by JCR. If you
cannot find
the journal title from JCR, please try other sources.

Web of Science (Social Sciences Citation Index and Arts & Humanities Citation Index)
http://www.lib.ied.edu.hk/cgi-bin/WAMConnMgr?sid=isiwos

The Web of Science consists of citation databases containing
the references cited by the authors of the articles. You can use these
references
to do cited reference searching. This type of search allows you
to find articles that cite a previously published work. Social Sciences
Citation
Index includes over 2,400 journals across 50 social sciences
disciplines with all cited references captured from indexed articles.
Arts &
Humanities Citation Index contains over 1,300 arts and
humanities journals with all cited references captured from indexed
articles.

Scopus
http://www.lib.ied.edu.hk/cgi-bin/WAMConnMgr?sid=scopus

Scopus is an abstracting and indexing database that includes
18,000 peer-reviewed journal titles in the social sciences, health
sciences,
life sciences and physical sciences. Apart from getting
extensive inter-disciplinary access to journal articles, the database
also contains cited references to
articles from 1996 onwards. Using citation tracker from the
database, a selected journal could be evaluated by looking at its
citation counts
in the recent years.

SCImago Journal & Country Rank
http://www.scimagojr.com/

The SCImago Journal & Country Rank is a portal that includes
the journals and country scientific indicators developed from the
information
contained in the Scopus database (Elsevier B.V.). The SCImago
Journal Rank (SJR) indicator shows the visibility of the journals
contained in the
Scopus database from 1996, and the H index quantifies both
journal scientific productivity and scientific impact. These indicators
could be used to assess and analyze scientific domains.
