The "Webometrics Ranking of World Universities" is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones CientÃficas (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain. Since 2004, they have been releasing ranking reports every January and July. The purpose of the ranking project is to raise the number of web publications of universities’ scholastic knowledge and information, spreading knowledge economically and rapidly while increasing their influences. Each report is conducted under a different scales and standards. The calculation of indicators this time is as the following:
In the 2016 July edition of Webometric’s evaluation, Tunghai ranked 149th in Impact, 815th in Openness, 1489th in Excellence respectively in terms of evaluation categories worldwide. Overall, Tunghai University was placed as 11th in Taiwan, 2nd among Taiwanese private schools, and 555th worldwide.
